CANDIDATE STATEMENTS

Sharon P. Ramirez

President

I am honored to serve as the 2025-2026 RCBA Barristers President. Similar to many of us, I was first connected to the Barristers through the New Attorney Academy, which allowed me to see and feel first-hand the collegial and supportive atmosphere that makes Barristers so unique. Since 2022, I’ve had the privilege of serving on the Barristers board alongside so many wonderful board members who share the same passion for building and serving our Riverside and Inland Empire community. During this term, I will work to fulfill my responsibilities and duties to help RCBA Barristers continue its mission and the undeniable impact it has in our community. Above all, I hope to be able to contribute to the mission and vision of RCBA Barristers.

Kevin E. Collins

Treasurer

It has been a privilege to serve as your Treasurer these past three terms, and I’m running again to keep Barristers fun, inclusive, and financially solvent (in that order). Barristers has been my home for non-adversarial chicanery since I sheepishly tip-toed into my first happy hour six years ago. Since then, I’ve gained lifelong friends, career opportunities, and boundless support. I’m proud to use my suspicious fondness for spreadsheets and budget reconciliation to support events and initiatives that empower early-career attorneys and to pay forward the mentorship and encouragement I’ve received. Whether I’m chatting with students, wrangling vendors, or following up on that one last reimbursement form, I do it with gratitude. Thank you for your trust.

Derek Diemer

Member at Large

I am honored to have a second opportunity to run for a Member-at-Large position on the Barristers Board. The camaraderie, professional growth, and shared commitment to excellence within the Barristers have solidified my roots in the Riverside legal community, and I cannot imagine practicing anywhere else.  As an active member who has benefited greatly from the support and resources provided by the Barristers, I am passionate about giving back and contributing to the continued success and growth of our organization and the Riverside legal community at large. I humbly ask for your support and vote, and look forward to building upon the strong foundation toward an even brighter future.

Amanda K. Perez

Member at Large

I’m honored to run again for a Member-at-Large position with the RCBA Barristers. As an associate attorney at Reid & Hellyer and a current Barristers board member, I’ve truly valued being part of this incredible group. The camaraderie among young attorneys and our shared dedication to the legal profession is incredibly motivating. Practicing in Riverside County has shown me the unique challenges new lawyers face—and how vital Barristers is in providing mentorship, support, and professional development. I’m committed to continuing efforts that uplift and connect early-career attorneys, while fostering a sense of community and growth. I humbly seek your support as we work together to strengthen the Barristers and build an even more fruitful and collaborative future for the next generation of attorneys.

Ellen Peng

Member at Large

My name is Ellen Peng and I was a member-at-large this past year. I mainly focused on student outreach and I believe that is where I am most passionate. I was a law student when I was introduced to the legal community in Riverside. Merely participating in some events as a law student was the best decision I made. I met the most amazing, down to earth attorneys who are always willing to help me out. When it came to seeking advice about law school, the bar exam, job searching, and even actual practice, there was always someone willing to help. If the person you contacted couldn’t help me, they would always introduce to someone who could. This strong community made me want to step up and give back. I want to be able to continue to encourage law students and younger attorneys to get involved with our organizations and to continue this bond that prior members have built. I would love to be voted in as a member-at-large again so I may continue to give back to the legal community that supported me. Thank you!

Summer M. DeVore

Past President

I am honored to serve on the Barristers Board for one final term. This organization has played a meaningful role in my personal and professional growth, and I am deeply grateful for the opportunities it has given me. Serving as Barristers President last term was a true privilege, and I’m proud of everything the Board accomplished together.

As I return in this final capacity, I look forward to watching Barristers continue to grow and thrive under Sharon's leadership. It’s exciting to see the dedication and energy each new Board brings, and I’m confident this year will be no exception. Here’s to another successful year ahead!

I am extremely motivated and excited for this next Barrister’s Board term. This will now be my third term of serving on the board. I was born and raised in Riverside County, and I genuinely believe this region is a hidden gem with an incredible community of lawyers who deserve to feel connected, supported, and empowered. I am honored to run for Member at Large of the RCBA Barristers and grateful for the chance to provide other young attorneys with the support and mentorship I received from this amazing group. As someone who grew up in Riverside, I care deeply about this legal community and want to help make sure Barristers stays a supportive, welcoming resource for other attorneys just starting out. It would be a privilege to contribute to the professional development, community outreach, and social events that were so valuable to me as a new attorney. Elia Vazquez

Member at Large

I'm interested in serving on the RCBA Barristers Board because, as a first-year attorney in the Inland Empire, I’ve truly appreciated the warm welcome and support from the Barristers community. The strong emphasis on mentorship and connection has been incredibly valuable to me as a new attorney. I’d like to do my part in giving back by helping other young attorneys feel supported, connected, and encouraged as they begin their legal careers.
